SYNOPSIS

‘Kapus Kondyachi Goshta’ is the term applied in Marathi language to imply an endless story, a continuing saga. Here is a movie based on a true story of four unfortunate sisters from central India, showcasing just that.18 years old Jyoti, the eldest one, braves every situation and comes out positively taking care of her 3 younger sisters all the while. She shows tremendous will to fight and survive, learning the lessons of life time ‘n again.

‘Kapus Kondyachi Goshta’ portrays Jyoti breaking several taboos and convictions traditionally suppressing the females of the society. She is the epitome of a woman’s inner strength and courage. Jyoti is brave, literally fighting her way out even of sexual abuse.The film positively captures all the regional flavors of the daily lives of rural India.The rural women are worse off since there perils and protests go largely unnoticed. This situation is not limited to India. The same story, sadly, still spins over large parts of the world. That’s why ‘Kapus Kondyachi Goshta’ has a universal appeal and people who strongly oppose gender discrimination all over the world can wholeheartedly relate to the characters.

This film has won several prestigious national awards. And some international film festivals have acknowledged the excellence of the feature, with Best Feature Film in IIFF (Brisbane, Australia), official selection in Gwinnett Centre IFF (USA), 9th Seattle South Asian Film Festival (USA) and Silk Road International Film Festival China.

More than 200,000 Indian farmers have committed suicide, leaving their family members without any livelihood; this is true especially for the females. Sadly the suicides are still taking place. We were haunted by this burning issue, while filming for a few of our 50 path-breaking agricultural documentaries, moved from within we felt it had to be brought to notice of the world
